BMW X5 Transport from John Pye Bo’ness to Alloa
Falkirk Recovery recently completed a BMW X5 transport from John Pye Bo’ness after the vehicle was purchased at auction and needed delivered directly to the new owner's address in Alloa.
This wasn't quite as simple as driving the BMW onto the recovery truck. The X5 was supplied without any keys, meaning the automatic gearbox remained locked in Park and the electronic handbrake was still applied.
With the wheels unable to roll freely, specialist loading and unloading techniques were required to safely move the vehicle without causing unnecessary damage.
Collection from John Pye Auctions in Bo’ness
We regularly provide vehicle collection and transport services from auction sites across Central Scotland, including John Pye in Bo’ness.
On arrival, we assessed the BMW X5 before attempting to move it. Because there were no keys available, we couldn't release the transmission from Park or disengage the electronic parking brake in the normal way.
Attempting to simply winch a vehicle in this condition along the recovery bed can place unnecessary strain on the drivetrain, tyres and recovery equipment.
Instead, we prepared the X5 for controlled specialist loading onto our tilt-and-slide recovery truck.
Specialist Loading for a BMW X5 with No Keys
Vehicles with automatic transmissions and electronic parking brakes can present a significant challenge when they're completely immobilised.
For this BMW X5 transport from John Pye Bo’ness, specialist recovery equipment and loading techniques were used to allow the vehicle to move safely despite its locked wheels.
The BMW was carefully positioned and secured to the recovery truck before beginning the journey from Bo’ness to Alloa.
Once loaded, the vehicle was secured using appropriate wheel restraints ready for transport.
Vehicle Transport from Bo’ness to Alloa
With the BMW safely secured, we transported it from John Pye Auctions in Bo’ness to the customer's address in Alloa.
Our tilt-and-slide recovery truck allows us to transport larger vehicles such as SUVs and 4x4s while also carrying the equipment needed to deal with non-runners, accident-damaged vehicles and vehicles that cannot roll normally.
After arriving in Alloa, specialist techniques were again required to unload and correctly position the X5 because the gearbox remained in Park and the electronic handbrake was still engaged.
The vehicle was successfully delivered to the customer without needing keys or the vehicle to be operational.
