Land Rover Defender recovery South Queensferry
Falkirk Recovery was recently called to South Queensferry to assist with this classic Land Rover Defender after the owner noticed that something didn't feel right with the vehicle's steering, tracking and general driving behaviour.
Rather than continuing to drive the Defender and potentially worsening an underlying steering or suspension problem, the decision was made to have the vehicle professionally transported for inspection.
We collected the Defender in South Queensferry and transported it safely to a specialist in Whitburn for further investigation.
Steering & Tracking Concerns
The owner had noticed that the Defender's tracking and overall driving experience felt unusual.
There are numerous components that can potentially cause a vehicle to feel unstable, pull to one side or behave differently through the steering. These can include wheel alignment, steering components, suspension bushes, ball joints, wheel bearings and other suspension-related issues.
Without a proper inspection, however, it wouldn't be sensible to assume exactly what was causing the problem.
With the Defender due to be examined by a specialist, transporting the vehicle rather than driving it provided the safer option.
Safe Loading of the Land Rover Defender
Although Defenders offer considerably more ground clearance than many of the cars we recover, their size, weight and 4x4 drivetrain mean correct loading and securing are still important.
The Defender was carefully loaded onto our 7.5-tonne tilt-and-slide recovery truck before being professionally secured using over-the-wheel restraints.
Once we were satisfied with its position and security, the Defender was ready for transport from South Queensferry to Whitburn.
Transported from South Queensferry to Whitburn
With the vehicle secured, we transported the Defender from South Queensferry to the specialist in Whitburn, where it could be properly inspected and the cause of the unusual driving characteristics identified.
Vehicle recovery isn't only for cars that have completely broken down.
If a vehicle develops a steering, suspension, braking or drivetrain problem that makes you uncomfortable driving it, arranging transportation to a garage can help avoid turning a relatively minor fault into a more serious problem.
This is particularly worthwhile with classic, specialist and enthusiast-owned vehicles, where owners understandably want additional care taken during transport.
