Mazda 2 Transported from East Calder to Falkirk

Falkirk Recovery was recently asked to help a customer with the transportation of this Mazda 2 from East Calder to Falkirk.

The vehicle had belonged to the customer's father, who had sadly passed away, and the family needed the car collected from East Calder and brought back to his daughter's home address in Falkirk.

There was an additional complication with the collection: there were no keys available for the Mazda.

This meant the vehicle couldn't simply be driven or rolled normally onto our recovery truck and required specialist equipment and a careful loading process.

The Challenge – Moving a Vehicle Without Keys

Recovering a vehicle without keys can be considerably more difficult than transporting a normal running vehicle.

Depending on the vehicle and its condition, the steering may be locked and the wheels may not rotate freely. Attempting to drag a vehicle directly onto a recovery bed can potentially damage tyres or other components.

For this Mazda 2, we used our specialist Slippy Jims and wheel skates to allow the vehicle to be moved safely despite having no keys.

The equipment allows wheels that cannot rotate normally to slide across the surface during loading, making it possible to recover vehicles from situations where conventional loading isn't an option.

Once positioned correctly, the Mazda was carefully winched onto our 7.5-tonne tilt-and-slide recovery truck.

Safely Secured for Transport

After loading, the Mazda was secured to the recovery bed using professional over-the-wheel straps before beginning the journey back to Falkirk.

Using wheel restraints means the vehicle can be securely transported without relying on suspension or body components as tie-down points.

Extra care was taken throughout the collection and delivery, particularly given the circumstances surrounding the vehicle.

Transport from East Calder to Falkirk

With the Mazda safely loaded, we transported it from East Calder through to Falkirk, where it was delivered directly to the customer's home address.

The vehicle was then carefully unloaded using the same specialist equipment required during collection.

Jobs like this demonstrate why having the correct recovery equipment matters. A vehicle doesn't necessarily need to have suffered a mechanical breakdown to require professional transportation.

Missing keys, locked steering, seized brakes, automatic gearboxes stuck in Park and electronic handbrakes can all make otherwise straightforward vehicle movements considerably more challenging.
