Falkirk Recovery was recently called to carry out a VW Polo GTI Recovery Newton after this sporty Volkswagen suffered a major coolant leak.

Thankfully, the customer noticed the problem quickly and switched the engine off before serious engine damage could occur. With a significant loss of coolant, continuing to drive could have resulted in overheating and potentially complete engine failure.

The safest option was professional recovery, so we collected the Polo GTI from Newton and transported it to the customer's chosen garage in Grangemouth for diagnosis and repairs.

VW Polo GTI Recovery Newton After Major Coolant Leak

The customer became aware that their VW Polo GTI had developed a serious coolant leak while travelling near Newton.

Coolant is essential for controlling engine temperature, and a major loss can quickly cause an engine to overheat. Fortunately, the driver recognised there was a problem and stopped the vehicle before continuing any further.

Rather than risk driving the Polo to a garage, Falkirk Recovery was contacted to arrange VW Polo GTI Recovery Newton and transport the vehicle safely to Grangemouth.

Once on scene, we assessed the car and prepared it for loading onto our 7.5-tonne tilt-and-slide recovery truck.

Extra Care Required for the Low Polo GTI

This particular recovery required additional care because the Polo GTI sat very low to the ground, meaning clearance around the front bumper and underside of the vehicle was limited.

Low and modified vehicles can be more difficult to recover because the angle between the road and recovery bed can cause bumpers, splitters or the underside of the vehicle to make contact during loading.

We therefore used careful, controlled loading techniques to minimise the loading angle and safely get the Polo onto the recovery bed.

The same attention was required when unloading the vehicle at the garage in Grangemouth.

Once loaded, the VW was professionally secured using over-the-wheel restraints before being transported to the repairer.

The customer made the right decision by stopping the Polo when they noticed the coolant problem.

Driving a vehicle that is rapidly losing coolant can cause the engine temperature to rise extremely quickly. Continuing to drive could potentially result in cylinder-head damage, head-gasket failure or, in severe cases, complete engine failure.

If you notice a coolant warning, rising temperature gauge, steam or coolant leaking underneath your vehicle, stopping somewhere safe and arranging recovery can be considerably cheaper than risking further engine damage.

In this case, the Polo GTI was safely transported to Grangemouth where the underlying coolant leak could be properly diagnosed.
